Hugh Hession

Owner, Piano and Voice

Hugh Hession is the owner of Performa Lesson Studios and a veteran performer and educator with more than 30 years of experience on stages across the United States. Originally from Ohio, Hugh began teaching piano and voice in Warner Robins in 2007 and now maintains a full studio of more than 50 students.

Hugh specializes in contemporary voice, offering modern, technique-forward vocal training rooted in healthy, sustainable foundations. His instruction focuses on breath coordination, resonance, vowel shaping, stylistic articulation, and vocal stamina—skills essential for today’s commercial styles. Hugh is particularly known for helping singers develop and refine their mixed voice, bridging chest and head registers for power, control, and agility across genres. His approach blends classical fundamentals with contemporary application, giving students the tools to sing confidently, stylistically, and safely at an advanced level.

Classically trained in piano and music theory since the age of five, Hugh brings a strong technical foundation to his teaching. His piano instruction includes reading, technique, theory, ear training, chord studies, improvisation, and stylistic development, giving students a well-rounded musical skill set. Whether students are pursuing classical studies, contemporary styles, or a combination of both, Hugh focuses on building solid musicianship, strong fundamentals, and confident performance ability.

As a keyboardist and lead vocalist, Hugh has performed alongside an impressive list of artists, including guitar icon Robin Trower, Phil Driscoll, Sister Hazel, Sugar Ray, Everclear, 38 Special, and Lee Brice.

As founder of Hession Entertainment Group, Hugh has collaborated with acclaimed producer Ken Lewis (Bruno Mars, Alicia Keys, Eminem, Drake), Edwin McCain, Great White, and Warner Robins native Travis Denning—now signed to UMG Nashville and a Billboard-charting country artist. Hugh is also the founder and lead vocalist of the national touring tribute act Rock the 90s, and he performs widely as a solo artist throughout Middle Georgia. Additionally, he is the touring fill-in keyboardist for Departure: The Journey Tribute Band.

In addition to his musical background, Hugh brings decades of professional management and logistics experience, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Management, which support the organization, leadership, and long-term vision of Performa Lesson Studios.

Hugh resides in Warner Robins with his wife, Rosalyn, an educator at Lake Joy Primary School.
