A magna cum laude graduate of Mercer University’s Townsend School of Music, Keaton Byrd has served as a music educator in the middle Georgia area since 2017. As he approaches his first full decade as a teacher, Mr. Byrd looks back fondly on the hundreds of lives he’s had the privilege of being a part of.

While his expertise is in classical and church music performance, Keaton teaches and performs it all: piano, guitar, bass, trumpet, and voice, in all genres! In his words, “I was given a voice and an opportunity at an age when many of my peers were not so fortunate. I had a platform because a few good people took me seriously. I make it my mission to take every one of my students seriously.” With that goal in mind, Keaton tailors his lessons and materials to the individual needs of his students, young and old. Don’t be surprised to see his notes and scribbles across the pages!

With his help, Keaton has seen many pursue music as a real part of their life. Several of his students currently hold positions as church and band musicians in the area, and a number of others have gone on to study at the collegiate level. From ages 4 to 90 (yes, really!), Keaton is proud of each and every one of his students. He looks forward to seeing those and the many more he’s yet to meet find their own voice through music.
